According to preliminary data from the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), the economy of all 19 eurozone countries grew by 2.2% in the third quarter of the year. In annual terms, the region's GDP grew by 3.7%. Analysts on average expected the European economy to grow by 2% relative to the second quarter of 2021 and by 3.5% by the third quarter of last year. This is the first of three estimates of the dynamics of eurozone GDP over the past quarter, the second estimate will be published on November 16. The GDP of Germany, the strongest economy in the region, grew by 1.8% in the third quarter, France – by 3%, Italy – by 2.6%, Spain – by 2%. The GDP of the states of the entire European Union in the period from July to September increased by 2.1% compared to the previous quarter and by 3.9% in annual terms.
