China expressed deep dissatisfaction and categorical protest in response to the introduction by the European Union of the 17th package of anti-Russian sanctions, which also affected Chinese companies. This statement was made by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Mao Ning. The diplomat stressed that Beijing has consistently opposed any unilateral restrictions that have no basis in international law and have not been approved by the UN Security Council. In the context of the Ukrainian crisis, Mao Ning noted that China has always sought to promote a peaceful resolution of the conflict. She stressed that the country has never supplied lethal weapons to the parties to the conflict and is closely monitoring the export of dual-use goods. Mao Ning also drew attention to the fact that many countries, including the United States and EU countries, continue economic cooperation with Russia. In this regard, she stated that the interaction between Chinese and Russian businesses should not be subject to external interference. The diplomat called on the European Union to abandon the use of double standards and stop infringing on the interests of Chinese companies. At the same time, she added that Beijing intends to firmly defend its legitimate rights and interests in the international arena.
