The Statistical Office of the European Union reported a decrease in unemployment in the eurozone in July to 6.4% from 6.5% in June. This figure was lower than the forecast of analysts, who expected unemployment at 6.5%. In July 2023, unemployment in the region was 6.6%. Last month, the number of unemployed in the eurozone decreased by 114 thousand and amounted to 10.990 million people. Youth unemployment rate (under 25 years old) decreased to 14.2% from 14.4% in June. Among the largest eurozone countries, the lowest unemployment rate was recorded in Germany (3.4%), and the highest in Spain (11.5%). Indicators in both countries remained at the level of the previous month. In July, unemployment in France was 7.5%, as in June, and in Italy it fell to 6.5% from 6.9% in the previous month. In the European Union as a whole, the unemployment rate remained at 6% last month, as it was in July 2023.
