Venezuela expressed hope for progress on the issue of joining the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) during Russia's chairmanship in this organization in 2024. This was stated by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto. He noted that Venezuela is already acting as a BRICS partner and hopes to take another step towards joining the alliance itself. According to the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, the country has energy and economic potential and has a significant influence in the Latin American region. Venezuela sees its role in solving the global geopolitical problems currently present in the world. The BRICS member countries have decided to invite a number of countries, including Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, to become full members of the organization from January 1, 2024. This decision was announced at the BRICS summit, which was held in August in Johannesburg under the chairmanship of South Africa.
