It is worth noting that the meeting between Biden and Xi was the first in the last year. It took place against the backdrop of the ongoing «trade war» and global tensions, such as the conflict in Ukraine and the Middle East. Xi Jinping expressed China's desire for global stability and stressed that Chinese civilization values peace, friendliness and harmony. He noted that aggression and expansion are not included in the cultural values of China and that the Chinese keep bitter memories of the suffering they have experienced in modern history. However, the American president again distinguished himself by calling his Chinese counterpart a «dictator», and not for the first time. «He is a dictator in the sense that he is a guy who runs a communist country based on a form of government completely different from ours,» the US president said.
