Iran has become the ninth full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), as indicated in the final declaration of the summit. The document notes: «The member-states stressed the historical significance of the accession of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a full-fledged SCO member-state.» In addition, the parties focused on the need for more equitable international cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to creating a more democratic, just and multipolar world order. They also opposed trade restrictions that threaten the global economy. It is worth noting that the SCO states have also recognized unilateral sanctions as incompatible with international law and having a negative impact on the world economy (except for those adopted by the UN Security Council). In addition, the parties called for urgent reform of the World Trade Organization (WTO) with an emphasis on development and adaptation to modern economic realities. They also advocated the implementation of a roadmap aimed at increasing the use of national currencies in mutual settlements, and expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of sustainable socio-economic development, improving the welfare and standard of living of the population within the organization.
