Apple Inc has announced a multibillion-dollar agreement with Broadcom Inc to manufacture and supply chips for 5G communication networks in the United States. The company noted that this agreement was part of a commitment that Apple made back in 2021. Then the company promised to invest $430 billion in the country's economy over five years. According to the long-term agreement, Broadcom will develop 5G radio frequency components for Apple. These components will be designed and assembled at several factories in the USA. Apple CEO Tim Cook noted: «All Apple products rely on technology developed and manufactured here in the United States, and we will continue to increase our investment in the American economy because we strongly believe in the future of America.» According to the press release, the 5G radio components developed by Broadcom will include FBAR filters and other wireless communication components. These components are different from 5G modems manufactured by Qualcomm, an American company headquartered in San Diego. After the news was published, Broadcom shares jumped 4.3% in the premarket, to $698.99 per paper.
