Exchange prices for gas in Europe accelerated the pace of growth after the news of an explosion on a gas pipeline in Chuvashia. The cost of «blue fuel» approached the mark of $ 1,250 per thousand cubic meters.
As you know, the Urengoy – Pomary–Uzhgorod main gas pipeline crosses the Russian-Ukrainian border near the Sudzha station in the Kursk region, and this is the only entry point for Russian gas to Ukraine for transit to Europe today.
Analysts note that the explosion on the gas pipeline looks like an accidental accident and is unlikely to lead to a prolonged cessation of gas supplies through Ukrainian territory to Europe. The cause of the fire was a gas leak. It is also reported that repairs were carried out on the gas pipeline.
At the moment, the gas pipeline is blocked on both sides. There may be difficulties with transportation within two days, but in a few days the gas pipeline supplies will resume in the same volume at which they have been held since the end of May – about 42-42.5 million cubic meters per day.
