The markets reacted negatively: the S&P 500 index fell by 1.2%, and the Mexican peso declined by 2.3% against the dollar. Economists warn that such tariffs could negatively affect the American economy, given the close trade ties between the countries under the USMCA agreement. Analysts fear that a 25% tariff could lead to higher consumer prices and trigger retaliatory measures. Canada and Mexico are the largest trading partners of the United States, with a trade volume of more than $1.5 trillion per year. Representatives of these countries are expected to oppose the proposed measures.
