At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones fell 0.29%, the S&P 500 fell 0.53%, and the NASDAQ Composite fell 1.56%.

Walmart Inc was the top performer among the components of the Dow Jones index today, up 3.13 points or 2.30% to close at 139.29. Amgen Inc rose 4.05 points or 1.77% to close at 232.64. International Business Machines rose 2.07 points or 1.67% to close at 125.93.

The losers were Boeing Co shares, which fell 8.96 points or 4.53% to end the session at 188.85. Salesforce.com Inc. was up 2.68% or 5.64 points to close at 204.75, while Intel Corporation was down 1.92% or 0.94 points to close at 47. .93.

Leading gainers among the components of the S&P 500 in today's trading were Kroger Company (NYSE:KR), which rose 11.61% to 55.10, Best Buy Co Inc, which gained 9.22% to close at 110.14, as well as Brown Forman, which rose 7.08% to end the session at 69.41.

The biggest losers were EPAM Systems Inc, which shed 13.13% to close at 212.98. Shares of IPG Photonics Corporation shed 9.08% to end the session at 114.00. Quotes of Match Group Inc decreased in price by 5.71% to 102.99.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were DBV Technologies, which rose 34.62% to hit 1.75, Tonix Pharmaceuticals Holding Corp, which gained 33.07% to close at 0.25, and also shares of Apptech Corp, which rose 28.04% to end the session at 1.37.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that fell in price (1836) exceeded the number of closed ones in positive territory (1360), while quotes of 158 shares remained practically unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2,569 stocks fell, 1,254 rose, and 237 remained at the previous close.

Shares of Kroger Company surged to an all-time high, up 11.61% or 5.73 points to close at 55.10. Shares in IPG Photonics Corporation fell to a 52-week low, falling 9.08%, 11.38 points, to close at 114.00. Shares in Match Group Inc fell to a 52-week low, down 5.71% or 6.24 points to close at 102.99. NuCana PLC shares tumbled to all-time lows, falling 59.18%, 1.74 points, to close at 1.20. VEON Ltd shares fell to all-time lows, dropping 41.19% or 0.18 points to close at 0.26. Shares in Grab Holdings Ltd tumbled to all-time lows, falling 37.28% or 1.95 points to close at 3.28.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 0.85% to 30.48.

Gold Futures for April delivery added 0.83%, or 16.00, to $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI crude for April delivery fell 2.30%, or 2.54, to $108.06 a barrel. Futures for Brent crude for May delivery rose 0.21%, or 0.23, to $110.64 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair remained unchanged 0.02% to 1.11, while USD/JPY edged up 0.00% to hit 115.46.

Futures on the USD index rose by 0.33% to 97.74.
