On Monday, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe stated that he would try to persuade U.S President Donald Trump about the important part that Japan’s car manufacturers contributed in boosting the American economy. The US government planned to start last week the investigation towards national security of imported cars which could lead on imposing US tariffs like the taxes levied on imported steel and aluminum. According to Abe, Japanese automakers were able to create jobs and contributed a major factor to the US economy since the volume of cars manufactured in the United States doubled the number exported to Japan. The Japanese PM also mentioned that Tokyo will continue to convince Washington to cooperate with the multilateral Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).
