Unemployment rate in France declined by 0.8% in November which further showed a reversal on the surge during the third quarter. Unemployed French people reached a total of 3.45 million based on the data published on Wednesday. This almost doubled the jobless rate in Germany and the United Kingdom. During his campaign, French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to reduce the unemployment by 7 percent for the year 2022. According to Canard Enchainé, a weekly newspaper in the country, one of the factor under consideration is to incorporate unemployment benefits into the monthly job search report. The plan implies that any person who will not undergo training or reasonable adjustments in employment twice should expect their benefits cut for two months, compared to the current 20 percent. In an interview with Alexis Corbiere by the BFMTV news, the left-winger from the France Unbowed party said that the main purpose of such measure is to dissuade anyone from collecting their unemployment benefits. Hence, this should have an optimistic effect on numbers. On the other hand, Jordan Bardella of the National Front stated his opposition about the “generalized suspicion” against the unemployed and encourage the administration to concentrate further on severe cases.
