Еврокомиссар по конкуренции Маргрет Вестагер заявила, что Евросоюз обеспокоен доминирующим положением компании Google в регионе и допускает возможность разделения компании в будущем.

Еврокомиссар отметила, что этот вопрос должен остаться в повестке, поскольку экспертиза ЕС доказала, что компания злоупотребляет доминирующим положением в сфере поисковых услуг с целью ослабления конкурентов.

Ранее в 2015-2016 годах Еврокомиссия обвинила компанию Google в том, что она отдает предпочтение собственным поисковым сервисам, ущемляя права потребителей и конкурентов. Кроме того, по мнению ЕК, Google злоупотребляет доминирующим положением на рынке и предлагает собственные инструменты онлайн-рекламы (например, сравнение цен) на сторонних сайтах.

Представители компании Google полностью отрицают претензии Еврокомиссии. Летом 2017 года ЕК оштрафовала Google на €2,42 млрд за злоупотребление доминирующим положением в сфере поисковых систем и продвижение сервиса Google Shopping.
