The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the country's first exchange-traded funds (ETFs) for bitcoin. This will allow the largest investors to legally purchase cryptocurrency. Among the issuing companies that have received SEC approval are Bitwise, Grayscale, Hashdex, BlackRock, Valkyrie, BZX, Invesco, VanEck, WisdomTree, Fidelity and Franklin Templeton. Trading on these ETFs is expected to begin on January 11. The head of the SEC, Gary Gensler, said that these products will be available for placement and trading on registered national securities exchanges.
