В среду, 6 августа, были опубликованы протоколы заседания Федеральной резервной системы США от 25-26 июля 2017 года, на котором регулятор сохранил базовую процентную ставку на уровне 1-1,25%. 

Некоторые чиновники ФРС были готовы начать программу сокращения активов, однако большинство членов Комитета по открытым рынкам предложили отложить рассмотрение программы до следующего заседания.

В центре обсуждения стоял вопрос об инфляции. Около половины чиновников прогнозируют среднесрочный рост инфляции до 2%, другие полагают, что инфляция не достигнет целевого уровня либо сократится.

После публикации протоколов заседания большинство инвесторов (51,2%) ожидают, что ФРС США не будет поднимать базовую процентную ставку третий раз в этом году. В результате американский доллар существенно подешевел относительно ведущих мировых валют.
