China has completely stopped importing liquefied natural gas from the United States due to the intensification of the trade conflict between the countries. The last shipment of American LNG arrived in Fujian Province on February 6, after which no new shipments were recorded. One of the gas tankers was diverted to Bangladesh, not reaching China before the increased tariffs came into effect. The level of tariffs, effectively equal to the embargo, has led to changes in global LNG flows. Analysts note that the demand for LNG in Asia may fall by 5-10 million tons, which will lead to lower gas prices in Europe. Despite the current 13 long-term contracts of Chinese companies with American suppliers until 2049, the prospects for further cooperation remain unclear. Experts believe that Chinese companies are unlikely to conclude new agreements for the purchase of American LNG.
