В среду, 12 сентября, президент США Дональд Трамп подписал указ, позволяющий вводить санкции против стран, компаний и частных лиц, которые пытаются влиять на процесс выборов.

Указ был подписан за закрытыми дверями, накануне выборов в Конгресс 6 ноября, и вызвал критику со стороны обеих партий, которые назвали его запоздалым и неэффективным.

Д. Трамп заявил, что не допустит никакого вмешательства в американские выборы со стороны иностранных государств.

Ранее спецслужбы США заключили, что поддерживаемые РФ организации, пытались увеличить шансы Д. Трампа на победу на президентских выборах 2016 года, однако американский президент пока воздерживается от публичных обвинений В. Путина во вмешательстве в выборы.

Комментируя новый указ президента, директор национальной разведки США Дэн Коутс заявил, что спецслужбы выявили признаки вмешательства в выборный процесс со стороны России и Китая, а также аналогичные возможности у Ирана и КНДР.
