Премьер-министр Ирландии Лео Варадкар сомневается, что Великобритания сможет добиться соглашения с ЕС по вопросу Brexit, если продолжатся разногласия внутри кабинета министров.

За несколько недель до саммита Евросовета Великобритания подготовила ряд мер, которые позволили бы избежать жесткой границы между Северной Ирландией и Республикой Ирландией. Однако в кабинете премьер-министра Терезы Мэй возникли разногласия по поводу лучшего решения, которые не позволили сделать предложения в Брюсселе.

Если не удастся избежать жесткой границы в Ирландии, это означает, что соглашение с Евросоюзом не достигнуто, а Великобритания выходит из состава ЕС в марте 2019 года без переходного периода.

Лео Варадкар заявил, что ждет от представителей Соединенного Королевства конкретных предложений, которые регламентируют отношения между Великобританией и ЕС и гарантируют отсутствие на острове Ирландия жесткой границы.

На данный момент Великобритания не выставила для обсуждения в Брюсселе ни одного предложения, хотя ранее сообщалось, что страна готова расширить свой членский состав в таможенном союзе для внедрения новых таможенных правил, чтобы избежать жесткой границы в Ирландии.
