Výbor pro soudnictví americké Sněmovny reprezentantů v pondělí navrhl v rámci balíčku rozpočtových opatření převést antimonopolní činnost Federální obchodní komise (FTC) na ministerstvo spravedlnosti.
Návrh počítá s přidělením finančních prostředků na přesun zaměstnanců a případů z FTC na ministerstvo spravedlnosti a odráží návrh zákona republikánů, jehož cílem je převést veškerou federální antimonopolní činnost na jeden úřad.
Obě agentury sdílejí federální antimonopolní pravomoc, jejímž cílem je chránit před protisoutěžním chováním podniků, již více než 100 let.
Mluvčí FTC se k návrhu odmítl vyjádřit.
Návrh by umožnil vedoucímu antimonopolního oddělení ministerstva spravedlnosti restrukturalizovat sloučenou agenturu. Znění návrhu odráží návrh zákona předložený republikánským zástupcem Benem Clineem z Virginie.
Senátor Mike Lee, republikán ze státu Utah, předložil podobný návrh zákona v předchozích zasedáních a je zastáncem sloučení obou agentur.
