The United States plans to conclude a trade agreement with the United Kingdom within the next two to three weeks, according to a source in the American administration. At the same time, London does not intend to reduce its economic relations with China, despite pressure from Washington. It is assumed that the UK will become part of the «second wave» of partner countries after Japan, India and South Korea, with which the administration of Donald Trump is actively seeking to sign agreements as part of the anti-China trade strategy. Earlier it was reported that the United States made an offer to more than 70 countries providing for a reduction in customs duties in exchange for curtailing trade relations with Beijing. Meanwhile, the British official stressed that the country is not going to sacrifice its relations with China in order to reach agreements with the United States. According to him, negotiations with Washington and policy towards Beijing should remain independent of each other. London also plans to resume the work of the Jetco bilateral commission, whose activities were suspended in 2018 due to disagreements related to the situation in Hong Kong.
