Donald Trump wins the US presidential election

Donald Trump won the US presidential election, securing 277 electoral votes, which exceeds the threshold of 270 votes needed to win. Trump has already addressed the Americans and declared himself the 47th president of the United States.


In the fight for the presidency, Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris. During a speech to his supporters, he said that his new administration would be a «truly golden era» for the country. 


This is Trump's second return to power: he previously served as president from 2017 to 2021 after defeating Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election, but lost in the 2020 election to Joe Biden. At the time of his inauguration, Trump will be 78 years old, and he will become the oldest president in the history of the United States.


Trump is actively supported by influential businessmen, including Elon Musk. James Vance, a 40-year-old entrepreneur and politician, will become vice president in the new administration. Trump also stressed that the Republican Party will retain control of the House of Representatives and will probably gain a majority in the Senate.
