Эксперты Международного валютного фонда полагают, что уровень инфляции в Венесуэле может достигнуть миллиона процентов к концу 2018 года, что приведет к сильнейшему в XXI веке экономическому кризису.

Согласно данным агентства Reuters, рост потребительских цен в стране достиг 46 000%. При этом центральный банк Венесуэлы прекратил публиковать официальные финансовые отчеты.
 
Государство находится в состоянии глубокого экономического кризиса после падения цен на нефть в 2014 году. На этом фоне происходят многочисленные беспорядки, наблюдается сильный дефицит товаров.
