Американская корпорация Apple Inc. отказалась от проекта строительства data-центра в Ирландии стоимостью $1 млрд (€850 млн).

Представители Apple сообщили, что компания была вынуждена отменить план строительства в Ирландии центра обработки данных общей стоимостью $1 млрд (€850 млн) из-за задержек в одобрении проекта местными властями, которые заморозили его реализацию более, чем на 3 года.

В 2015 году Apple запланировала построить data-центр в ирландском поселке Атенрай. Место было выбрано из соображений использования ресурсов возобновляемой энергии. Однако компания столкнулась с сильным противодействием со стороны жителей поселка, которые полагают, что проект угрожает экологическому благополучию региона.

В 2017 году Высокий суд Ирландии отклонил претензии местных жителей, но существенная задержка вынудила Apple отменить реализацию проекта. При этом представители компании заявили, что намерены осуществлять другие проекты в Ирландии и не теряют своего интереса к этой стране.
