The UK has initiated reforms to accelerate renewable energy projects, including offshore wind power, with the aim of creating a carbon-neutral energy system by 2030. The main changes will affect CFDs, which provide fixed tariffs for energy producers and help attract investment. Among the proposals are simplification of approval procedures for offshore wind farms, revision of budget planning and extension of contracts to increase their economic efficiency. These measures are part of the Clean Energy 2030 program, which aims to achieve an offshore wind power capacity of 43-50 GW by the end of the decade. At the moment, about 30 GW have already been commissioned or approved. The Department of Energy Security and Zero Emissions noted that renewable electricity will form the basis of the future environmentally friendly energy system. CFDs play a key role in the implementation of projects necessary to achieve the planned capacity.
